Apprentice Fitter and Turner

We’re seeking a self-motivated and confident Apprentice Fitter and Turner to join our team at our Austral Bricks® office in Wollert, VIC. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing emergency, project and preventative maintenance activities for Fixed Plant, maintenance equipment, infrastructure and control systems.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Install, maintain and repair mechanical components and equipment.
• Ensure that fixed plant assets are fully maintained to promote efficient operation of equipment.
• Complete planned, unplanned and requested maintenance tasks effectively.
• Performs fault-finding analysis and diagnosis of mechanical issues and undertake problem solving to resolve/repair issues to minimise impact on production.
• Liaise with management, supervisors, maintenance team and operators to resolve breakdowns and perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Ensure that all assigned duties and quality of work is in accordance with industry standards, legislation, codes of practice and company procedures and that documentation is completed and signed.
• Perform required visual checks and inspections of machinery as required.
• Conduct proactive breakdown analysis and identify problem areas of plant.
• Keep maintenance, down-time and quality records in accordance with company procedures and requirements.
• Ensure that all relevant information is entered into the MEX system.
• Complete any training deemed necessary by management to maintain or increase skill level and proficiency.
• Take every opportunity to gain additional skills and knowledge from electrical contractors that may be used on site from time to time.
• Ensure understanding and compliance with all Environmental policy and procedures relevant to your work.
• Assist and contribute to Operational Excellence initiatives.
