About the role
Making beautiful products that last forever starts by building great teams, and we are looking for a self-motivated and confident Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our Austral Bricks office in Horsley Park, NSW. Reporting to the National Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing vehicles and equipment in a timely manner to ensure the operating needs and objectives of the business are met by achieving maximum efficiency whilst maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Perform repair and maintenance of our trucks (Volvo) and other equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies;
• Perform detailed inspections of trucks and equipment;
• Correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company owned equipment;
• Perform fabrication and repair component parts;
• Identify and repair or report worn or failed components;
• Maintain accurate records (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer systems;
• Follow administrative procedures for completion of Defective Vehicle Reports as instructed;
• Complete service checklists, and other paperwork accurately and legibly IAW company guidelines;
• Record and advise supervisor/manager of any issues that may require further investigation;
• Monitor the condition of materials and equipment to ensure they are ready for safe use; and
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

We are looking for people with:
• Strong time management, administration and organisational skills.
• Automotive qualification such as Heavy Vehicle, Diesel Mechanic and have the ability to provide evidence of your qualification.
• Good mechanical aptitude for mechanical and electrical diagnosis.
• Experience in heavy vehicle and heavy equipment service and maintenance.
• Experience with Volvo equipment (desirable).
• Full driver licence – Heavy Rigid / Heavy Combination licence (desirable).
• Welding experience – MIG/TIG and Oxy welding is desirable.
• Computer literacy (Word and Excel).
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks with varying levels of priority.
