Role
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Occupational Hygienist to drive a strong safety culture and compliance with legislative requirements. Reporting to the National WHS & Workers Compensation Manager and located in our Horsley Park office, you will be responsible for undertaking industrial hygiene investigations. Routine activities include exposure measurements of inhalable dust, synthetic minerals, noise, whole body vibration and ventilation. The successful candidate will be required to travel to a number of sites nationally.

Duties include but are not limited to
• Undertake industrial hygiene investigations;
• Complete exposure measurements of inhalable dust, synthetic minerals, noise, whole body vibration and ventilation;
• Implement and manage an organisational hygiene monitoring program to identify potential hazards in the workplace which may impact the health or wellbeing of the workforce;
• Research and develop additional hygiene capabilities in line with industry best practice;
• Develop and promote relevant occupational hygiene policies, procedures, work instructions;
• Ensure that Brickworks meets its legal/regulatory obligations in respect of occupational hygiene and that management and the workforce are aware of these requirements; and
• Report on WHS statistical data, trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

Success Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in occupational hygiene, environmental science or health and safety.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role preferably in the manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated track record in conducting hazardous materials surveys, assessing the risks, recommending controls and delivering accurate reports, in full and on time.
• Experience providing advice and support in a wide range of hygiene matters i.e. asbestos, noise, dust, chemicals, metals, heat and emerging hazards.
• Ability to build and maintain trusted and respected relationships with key stakeholders.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required.
• Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene (preferred)
