About the role

Making beautiful products that last forever starts by building great teams, and we’re
looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our team at Austral Bricks in Wollert, Victoria. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing emergency, project and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance to all WHS policies and procedures;
• Complete planned, unplanned and requested maintenance tasks effectively;
• Perform fault-finding analysis and diagnosis of maintenance issues and undertake problem solving to resolve/repair issues to minimise impact on production;
• Liaise with management, supervisors, maintenance team and operators to resolve breakdowns and perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime;
• Conduct proactive breakdown analysis and identify problem areas of plant;
• Keep maintenance, down-time and quality records in accordance with company procedures;
• Complete any training deemed necessary by management to maintain or increase skill level and proficiency; and
• Assist and contribute to Operational Excellence initiatives.

• Willingness to obtain Mechanical Trade Fitter or dual trade.
• Willingness to learn about fixed plant maintenance and manufacturing.

• Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Strong computer literacy and knowledge of MS Excel.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to complete multiple tasks with varying levels of priority to minimise downtime.
